5 Phobias and Food

By 2:01 AM , ,

If someone would say he/she is afraid of snakes, that is totally understandable but someone dreading over cheese? Now that's uncommon. Today, we are listing unusual phobias toward food.

Misophonia

Misophonia is literally "hatred of sound". It is a putative disorder of uncertain classification in which negative emotions, thoughts, and physical reactions are triggered by specific sounds. For people with a condition that some scientists call misophonia, mealtime can be torture. The sounds of other people eating — chewing, chomping, slurping, gurgling — can send them into an instantaneous, blood-boiling rage. Better stay away from ramen houses if you have this fear.

Lipophobia

Lipophobia also sometimes called lipophobia lipophobicity (from the Greek λιποφοβία from λίπος lipos "fat" and φόβος phobos "fear"), is a chemical property of chemical compounds which means "fat rejection", which literally translates to "fear of fat". Thank goodness I don't have this.

Turophobia

Turophobia (from Greek turi, "cheese") is the fear of cheese. People suffering this phobia would avoid consuming cheese and other cheesy stuff like pizza, cheesy pastas, poutine and basically almost all food experiments and mashups done by Buzzfeed and Tasty because they contain cheese. These are avoided by sufferers because of the cheesy taste and the gooey appearance of cheese.

Trypophobia

Trypophobia is an intense and irrational fear of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps. The term is believed to have been coined by a participant in an online forum in 2005. The word is from the Greek: τρύπα, trýpa, meaning "hole" and φόβος, phóbos, meaning “fear”. If simply looking at this picture makes your skin crawl and makes you feel very uncomfortable, then you might be suffering trypophobia.

Prasinophobia and Chlorophobia

Prasinophobia (from Greek prasinos, meaning "green"), referred exclusively as chlorophobia (from Greek chloros, meaning "yellow-green"), is fear of the color green. This fear is often associated with the fear of vegetation (germinatophobia). Have you ever met someone who has prasinophobia and is a vegetarian? Unless if they are colorblind, I guess.
