No New Year's Eve Celebration for Belgium and France
While everyone partied the night away with fireworks and lots of food, did you know there are some parts in the world that were devoid of New Year's Eve festivities?
Belgium
Festivities have been cancelled in the Belgian capital, Brussels, because of a terror alert. New Year’s Eve fireworks were also cancelled over fears of Paris-style terror attack.

France
Since last month's attack on Paris which left 130 dead and hundreds wounded, a lot of Parisians opted to celebrate outside the capital or if they were in the city, they didn't go out. French president Francois Hollande made a New Year’s speech which focused on terrorism amid the subdued mood in Paris.
